
Coming off of a broken thumb, I had not ridden at all for 1 week and was only allowed on the trainer. I spent 2 weeks on the trainer, trying to make the most of my time by including some efforts that would keep my heart-rate up, some efforts that would produce large amounts of lactate, as well as some pedaling drills and time on the TT bike.
After 2 weeks on the trainer, I started moving out onto the road, quickly regaining any lost endurance, but definitely feeling a loss of overall strength and fitness relative to the end of the racing season.
